Manchester United Bags EPL Title

Manchester United has set a new record in English soccer by winning the Premier League (EPL) title, the 19th league crown in the club's history. Previously Liverpool holds the pride of winning the most English league titles. United was in a tough position to secure the championship with a game to spare and achieved it with a hard-fought 1-1 draw at Elwood Park. 12 titles under Sir Alex Ferguson saw United take an absolute lead after his team's 2009 EPL success drew the team’s level at 18-18. Though his current squad was criticized at various points throughout the 2010-11 seasons, he proved the team’s caliber claiming the new record after a 2-1 victory at Old Trafford against Chelsea. The defeat of Barcelona would secure United its fourth UEFA Champions League title, formerly named the European Cup, to move one behind Liverpool's English record of five trophies in the competition.
